FabFitFun Winter 2017 Box Review

It’s that time of the year!

Winter is among us and that means my FabFitFun box has arrived! HALLELUJAH. This is actually my first box everrrr and I have anxiously been awaiting its arrival to my doorstep. I have watched so many unboxings of this service and I am so excited to share with you what I received in my winter box and my thoughts on the products. If you don’t already know because you’ve been living under a rock… FabFitFun is a seasonal lifestyle subscription box that gives you beauty, wellness, fitness and fashion products in one gorgeously designed box. Without further adieu, my FabFitFun Winter 2017 box!

First Impressions

When you first open the box you find a neatly wrapped (not so much in my case since I accidentally ripped the wrapping paper) package with a magazine on top. I love the effort that FabFitFun puts into their boxes. They designed a mini magazine to showcase the products you get and give you advice based on the products in the box. For example, “best eyeshadow looks for your eye shape” since we received an eyeshadow palette in the box. (SPOILER ALERT).

Let’s get into the box, shall we?

FabFitFun sends you 8 beauty, wellness, fitness & fashion products in every box. Some items have variations (such as the coffee mug and necklace in this season’s box) so not everyone receives the same versions of the products. You also have the option to choose between items. For example, I decided to go with the deep sleep pillow spray (holy guacamole yassss) over the fitness ball they were offering. Let’s be honest – I’d get more use out of the pillow spray since I sleep every night and I don’t go to the gym 99 out of 100 times. whoops. I felt like a little girl on Christmas morning opening this box because I knew I would love every single product! Not to mention, I used a $10 off your first box code so that brought my total down to $39.99 for over $300 worth of products. You. can’t. beat. that.

First up, BB Dakota Poncho.

I have never worn a poncho in my life, so not going to lie I was quite skeptical. Once I actually tried the poncho on I realized how comfy this thing actually is. I’ve worn it twice already this week and it’s only Wednesday. I believe there were 3 different variation colors you could have received, but boy am I glad that I received the black/grey one! 80% of my wardrobe is black. #notmadaboutit. The poncho is also reversible so you can either wear it black or turn it inside out and wear it grey. As you probably have guessed, I choose to wear it black. The price tag on this poncho is a whopping $70. I’m glad I received this in my box because there’s no way I’d spend that much money on a poncho. Just bein’ honest with ya.

AHAVA Mineral Hand Cream w/ Dead Sea Water.

I don’t frequently use hand creams, but since it is the winter months my skin has been getting dry and cracking. Especially around my hands, knuckles and nails. This cream smells so good! It doesn’t have a fragrance-y smell; It just smells natural. If that makes any sense. I have been using this hand cream religiously every day and I have to say, my hands feel a lot softer and smell amazing. The price for this product is $33 and I will most likely repurchase when I run out.

Homemade by Ayesha Curry Mug.

This mug is everything. It’s a tiffany blue color with a shut-eyed face that says “i’d rather be in bed.” This mug resonates with my SOUL, y’all. It’s so pretty and I use it every morning to fuel my coffee addiction. There were a few different variations of this item as well, but I’m glad I received this one! The mugs are $18 and I think they’re worth every penny.

Pointe Studio Aloe Infused Cozy Sock.

I have been blabbing on since October (my body runs cold) about how I NEED some long fuzzy socks in my life so my feet don’t freeze and fall off. When I saw that we were getting these in the box I cried tears of joy. Exaggeration. But I did jump up and down mentally. I actually received blue-toned socks instead of the red, which i’m not mad about. They are both super cute! These socks retail for $19 and let me tell you, they’re worth it!

Kate Somerville Exfolikate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment.

Now for the product that had everyone jumping for joy.. the Kate Somerville Exfoliating Treatment. I have heard raving reviews on this product and with my sh*tty skin texture I was stoked to try it out. No way am I paying retail price for this thing. The Exfolikate can be purchased for a kidney and half an arm… kidding. But it is priced at $75. I somewhat understand the pricing because this is a high-end skincare line and it does what is says it will do. I just cannot get myself to spend $75 on one item. I’ve only used this for about a week now, so we’ll see how magical it is. If it changes the surface of my skin, you bet your bottom dollar I’ll be buying it again.

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray.

I opted for the deep sleep pillow spray over the small fitness ball because as I previously mentioned, I’m going to get a lot more use out of pillow spray than I will a fitness ball. Plus, I have trouble sleeping at night and hoped this spray might help that. I was pleasantly surprised. The spray has a fine mist that smells heavily of lavender. Be careful spraying this because It will infiltrate your nostrils and you won’t be able to breathe (lol). But really, lightly spray this and wait a minute for it to dissipate. This spray retails for $29. Would I repurchase? I’m still deciding.

Nelson J Beverly Hills Moisture Healing Mask.

Yet another product I was excited to be receiving! My hair has become very fine and even though its growing (yay) it has a lot of breakage and is dry due to the winter season. I have only been able to use this product once since I received it, but It made my hair extremely soft from just one use! Not to mention it smells heavenly. This hair mask retails for $23 and I will probably be purchasing it in the future.

Doucce Freematic Eyeshadow Pro Palette.

This was one product that really let me down. I was SO looking forward to this because this eyeshadow palette has a beautiful mirror and would be great for travelling. However, upon trying these eyeshadows for the first time I noticed the bottom left shade has a lot of kickback (too much for my taste) and the rest of the shades are just hard to pick up on your brush and work with. The highlighter in this palette looks stunning, but when I tried to grab it with a brush (and even my finger) barely anything showed up. I have heard and seen some palettes where you have to scrape off the top layer to get to the good stuff so hopefully that is the case with this product because this palette retails for $70. 100% would not purchase this with how it’s performing, but we shall see.

8 Other Reasons Nine Lives Choker Necklace.

Can I get an AMEN for receiving the gold version of this necklace?! I never wear silver jewelry and love the design of this necklace, so I was praying I got the gold one. This necklace is gooooorgeous. You can wear it tighter as a choker that dangles down, or you can loosen it up and wear it as a nice hanging necklace. I usually opt for the first choice. This necklace retails for $58…. I just cannot justify spending that much money on one necklace, even if I have been wearing it every day. Do you know how many chicken nuggets you can buy with $58???

Final Thoughts…

FabFitFun has proven itself to be worth the money invested and a great way to try out new products that you normally would not buy for yourself. I loved opening this box and reading about the items in the FabFitFun magazine that was included in the box. Will I purchase the spring 2018 box? Probably. I’m a sucker for subscription boxes y’all. Let me know if you are subscribed to FabFitFun and your thoughts on the Winter 2017 box!
